1985年、台風が私の住む定川近辺をおそい、春樹君の水死体が上がったとき
わたしもまた、かわで蟹釣りを楽しんでいたものだ。蟹はするめをぶらさげた小さいわりばしのつりざおで釣るのだから子供でも容易だ。
そんな用水路の子供がまたがる大きなパイプをのぼったところに、たくさんの人がかけつけていて、わたしは彼の死を知った。
水死というのは、子供ながらに興味心をそそる。一度覗いてみたいなとまで思ったがまわりの大人たちにはとめられた。子供が知ってはいけない世界らしい。人伝えに寄れば身体が2倍3倍にも膨れるとか、フナにかじられてしまうとか、どうにもおぞましいものだという話である。この記憶は長い間わたしの中のとても深いところに眠らされていた。
いや人為的に隠されていたとでもいえよう。
あれから20年を経て、水のわかない水道橋に居住しているのがいまの私である。
ここは文化のはじまった地帯、ローマ水道橋公園にほどちかいアグリコラ地域。
数年前までは、公園の中に湧き水があって、少なからずともサトウキビの仲間が葉を広げていた時期もあったが、いまはその名残もない。この地域から、7つの丘へ向けて、文明の流れ、水が供給されていたことを思い浮かべると、その文明がいかに残酷な結末に行き着くかどうか、神話を読む視点が変わってきそうな気がする。
まず、生物は毒を持って産まれる。チューリップの一種がチュリパリンという青酸に類似した毒素を持ち、じゃがいもがソラニンを持つように、生物の毒は一種の生存本能のようなものである。毒を持つそういった植物を、自分たちの国に運び、改良して、自分たちの所属下に置いた西洋文明とはいかようなものだったのだろうか。
このへんで「ゲーム理論とドーキンスの利己的遺伝子論」を
リンクで張ってみる。このへんのレベルになると、一度頭に入れればすんなりかもしれないが、入れるまでは作業を要するというのがなんとなくわかります。
